Back to Boston!

My co-founder Dan and I are thrilled to announce that after four years in the Bay Area, we are expanding from coast to coast, and opening a new office where it all began – Boston. While Plastiq’s headquarters will remain in San Francisco, where we are hiring nearly 100 roles across all functions, we’re excited to be returning to our roots and opening an engineering hub in downtown Boston to continue our momentum of building great products and services for our customers.

Boston holds a special place for both of us. The roots of Plastiq were formed while Dan and I were both students at Harvard. Our first office was an old shared apartment in Beacon Hill, where we built the first version of Plastiq, held our first meetings, and talked to our first customers. There are many fond memories of the foundational roots of the growth of our company thanks to the Boston community. We were lucky to incubate our small team for a few months at the Harvard Innovation Lab, and then later shared offices with Bessemer Venture Partners, in their cool brick and beam office near Kendall Square. After raising our first round of venture funding from Flybridge and Accomplice, we moved to 181 Newbury Street, where the next chapter of Plastiq was born. Eventually, we moved out to San Francisco and built the company to what it is today – and we couldn’t be more proud.

Some of our earliest employees from Boston are still with us, including two of our early engineers, who will play a big role building our our renewed Boston presence. We look forward to getting back to the heart of Boston’s special ecosystem while continuing to grow our San Francisco team.
