Meet an Engineer

Tell us a little about yourself.

I joined Plastiq in early 2016. From then through to today I am excited every morning to go to the office and work with my amazing colleagues. Apart from that, I am a proud mom of a 13-month old and am enjoying my time with her. I’ve been able to achieve a great work-life balance here at Plastiq.

What do you do at Plastiq?

I work as a QA automation engineer in the engineering team at Plastiq. I spend most of my time working with developers and product managers to make sure we all work in the same direction and deliver the best quality product to our valuable customers.

How did you first get into Software Engineering?

I can’t think of anything that I ever had dreamed of doing other than what I am doing today!

What brought you to Plastiq?

I was working in Seattle and wanted to move back to the bay area and Plastiq gave me that opportunity. I initially joined Plastiq as a contractor, and it worked out for both the company and I, so I became a full-time employee in May 2016.

What’s an interesting problem you have worked on at Plastiq?

After releasing our core application we worked on a new module that can be used by a client business, I got an opportunity to create an automation test suite from scratch for that. That was a good experience for me to grow as an engineer. Also, my work on our in-house Risk systems added a great deal of business sense and domain knowledge to my experience.

How would you describe Plastiq’s engineering team?

A bunch of great hard working experienced engineers who are more than happy to help, teach and learn. It is a great pleasure to work with this team. We believe in work together, eat together, have fun together. The team themselves is one of the best reasons to join Plastiq Engineering.

Why do you enjoy your job?

It is fun to work on new features and new challenges every day. The fast-paced environment and new technologies keep you learning new things and allows you to explore new areas. You will be a better version of yourself today than what you were yesterday. By working on your project you add value to the company and you can see your work making a difference every time which brings great work satisfaction for me.
