Plastiq was born when Eliot Buchanan found out that his college tuition could not be paid using a credit card. Experiencing this frustration firsthand inspired him to create a solution that would enable anyone to use their card of choice for any payment, regardless of acceptance.
Soon after, Eliot founded 4ward Thinking, an online payment service that catered specifically to cardholders in the tuition space. 4ward Thinking’s rapid growth and success across several payment categories convinced Eliot’s former Harvard classmate Daniel Choi to take a leap of faith and join as co-founder of the company now known as Plastiq.
Five years later, Plastiq is a first-of-its-kind service that processes millions in payments for hundreds of thousands of customers who choose to use their cards for all of life’s important payments.
Plastiq has made great strides in the industry– unlike most other services, our main focus is empowering cardholders to choose how they make life’s important payments. We’re proud of the growth we have experienced thus far and look forward to what’s still to come. The future of credit card payments is limitless, and we intend to continue working towards providing the best service possible for our members.
